Flat Stanley and the Bobbleheads

Flat Stanley visited Aunt Carrie's office, which is close to Sea-Tac airport. These are the Mariners bobbleheads that are on her office windowsill.

Getting hot

The Pacific Northwest can be very rainy, so Aunt Carrie was a little worried that Flat Stanley might get warped or torn. Solution? Lamination!

See? That's not so bad.

Just the legs left to go . . .

Whew!

I told you that it wouldn't be too bad.

Now Flat Stanley is ready for anything! Good thing, too--Aunt Carrie is taking him on a trip to Boston and Orlando!

Flat Stanley on Cambridge Common

Flat Stanley enjoyed rolling in the leaves once we reached Boston, even though it was a little damp. Good thing that I laminated him!

Flat Stanley on Cambridge Common

Cambridge Common is near Harvard Square, and there are lots of historical markers. This one is about the path that the American soldiers marked during the Revolutionary War.

Flat Stanley on Cambridge Common

Can you imagine? The road that we walked on is close to 400 years old! That's older than Aunt Carrie!

In the spirit of Halloween, Flat Stanley wanted a photo near this spooky cemetary.

Flat Stanley at the Head of the Charles

The Head of the Charles is a huge regatta that takes place in Boston and Cambridge every year. You can see some of the rowers in the background.

More rowers. Aunt Carrie's friend Emily is giving Flat Stanley a boost.

Here we're across the Charles River from the Harvard Boathouse. At least, we THINK it's the Harvard Boathouse.

Flat Stanley Hanging out in Coffee Shops

After all of that time walking to and from the River, we needed a break. Here we are at a coffeeshop in Somerville, MA, while we waited for our breakfast.

Flat Stanley at the Farm Stand, Cambridge MA

Flat Stanley loved the fall colors and flowers he saw at a farm stand we visited in North Cambridge, MA. They go really well with his outfit.

Wait a second--these pumpkins aren't orange! They must be ZOMBIE pumpkins--look out, Stanley!

Flat Stanley in Rainy Orlando

After a few days in Boston, we flew to Orlando, Florida so that Aunt Carrie could go to a conference. We stayed very close to Disneyworld and Epcot Center. It rained the first day.

This is the view from our hotel room. Can you spot Mickey's sorcerer hat in the distance?

Flat Stanley with a Swan on His Head

How did Flat Stanley get a swan on his head? Freaky!

Flat Stanley in the Jungle, Orlando

Flat Stanley loved the hot, humid weather in Orlando--being laminated, he didn't feel the dampness at all.

Aunt Carrie was less enchanted by the humidity. It made her feel cranky and tired.

Look! Lizard!

Flat Stanley in the Dolphin Hotel Lobby

Before we left for the Orlando airport, Flat Stanley and Aunt Carrie had time to relax near the Dolphin fountain in the hotel lobby. Then we flew back to Seattle!

Flat Stanley goes to Homecoming

Aunt Carrie's friend Loree is the cheerleading coach at Auburn High School, so she and Flat Stanley went to the Homecoming football game. Nora's dad went to Auburn High School, too!

We can only assume that there was some sort of costume contest--I don't think that that baby has that much real hair.

Here are the victorious Auburn Trojans! Next stop, the playoffs!

Flat Stanley and Hammering Man

It's Flat Stanley's last weekend before heading back to Fredericksburg, so Aunt Carrie and Grandma took him to Seattle to see the sights. Here he is in front of the Seattle Art Museum, with the Hammering Man statue. It;s hard to tell, but Hammering Man is 48 feet tall. Flat Stanley is about 6 inches tall.

Flat Stanley at Pike Place Market

Here we are at the world famous Pike Place Market! Farmers from all over the state bring their produce and flowers to the market to sell. There are also guys who throw fish, but we steered clear of them on this visit.
